The scheme of giving free residential plots to houseless families for building construction was being implemented sporadically in Gujarat. The scheme was revised five years ago on 1st May 2017, Gujarat's foundation day. Panchayat and Gram Nirman Department promulgated an amendment resolution to provide free house plots of maximum 100 square meters but not less than 50 square meters to homeless families living in villages.Wide publicity was said. Committees were formed under this scheme to dispose of applications for free homestead plots and avoid delays. Out of which the Land Committee was asked to dispose of the allotment applications at the beginning of every month.

  • The scheme was started in 1972 by the Panchayat Department of the State Government. The main objective of this scheme is that the people in the village whose economic condition is not good can get their own house. Panchayat Department has made some amendments to benefit more poor people under Free Plot Gujarat Scheme. The new resolution has come into force on 01-05-2017.
