NMMS – National Means-Cum-Merit Scholarship is a Centrally sponsored scholarship scheme. It is implemented by the Department of School Education & Literacy under the Ministry of Human Resource Development with the objective to financially support the meritorious students of economically weaker sections of the society. NMMS encourages disadvantaged students to continue their studies at the secondary level by offering a scholarship amount of INR 12,000 per annum. Every year, this MCM scholarship is made active during the month of November and almost 100,000 scholarships are disbursed among bright students.
The National Means cum Merit Scholarship Examination, also known as NMMS Exam, was started in May 2008. The NMMS Exam is sponsored by the Central Government.The examination is conducted by the local authority. To prevent the dropping out of economically backward students from school at class VIII and to encourage them to complete their education till the secondary stage, the exam seeks to identify meritorious students and fund their education expenses. There is reservation as per Government norms.
NMMS Gujarat 2020 Application Form has been Extended till 31st December 2020. In the state of Gujarat, an entrance exam is conducted by the SCERT which is known as the Gujarat National Means Cum Merit Scholarship (NMMS) Scheme 2020 – 2021 for class VIII. NMMS Gujarat 2020 Exam will be held on 28th February 2021. The State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT), Gujarat is the official conducting authority to organize the entrance exam for the applicants.
